The European Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships 2025 will be conducted under the FIDE Laws of Chess, the FIDE General Regulations for Competitions, and the ECU Tournament Rules.

Regulations Overview

The European Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships 2025 will be conducted under the FIDE Laws of Chess, the FIDE General Regulations for Competitions, and the ECU Tournament Rules.

Time Control:

Rapid Chess

11 rounds, Swiss system 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move

Blitz Chess

13 rounds, Swiss system 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment per move

a) The tournament is played according to the FIDE Laws of Chess, FIDE General
Regulations for Competition and ECU Tournament Rules.

b) Default time – The game is lost by the player who arrives at the chessboard after
his flag has fallen (time has run out).

c) The tournaments are played according to A4 and B4 of the Laws of Chess
respectively.

d) The order of players that finish with the same number of points shall be
determined by application of the following tie-breaking procedures in
sequence, proceeding from (a) to (b) to (c) to (d) the extent required:

(a) Buchholz Cut 1

(b) Buchholz

(c) Greater number of games with Black

(d) Greater number of wins

Entry Fees:

€45 for Rapid

(includes €20 ECU fee)

€35 for Blitz

(includes €10 ECU fee)

 Free for: 2024 medal winners,
female players rated 2400+,
players rated 2600+ (if registered before 27 Oct 2025).

👉 All bank transfer fees must be covered by the player/participant.

Eligibility:

Open to all players representing ECU federations (FIDE Zones 1.1–1.10), regardless of title or ranking.
