The European Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships 2025 will be conducted under the FIDE Laws of Chess, the FIDE General Regulations for Competitions, and the ECU Tournament Rules.

The Championship will be held from November 27th (day of arrival) until December
01st (day of departure) 2025 at Hotel Emerald, (Prishtina-Skopje Highway),
Prishtina.

System of Play

a) The European Individual Rapid Chess Championship will be played according to
the Swiss system, in 11 rounds with the time control 15 minutes game + 10
seconds per move starting from the first move.
b) The European Individual Blitz Chess Championship will be played according to
the Swiss system, in 13 single rounds, with the time control 3 minutes game + 2
seconds per move starting from the first move.

Application Registration

The registration deadline is 27th of October 2025, and players should register by
sending an e-mail to the organizer: [email protected]
The registration must include surname/s, first name/s, FIDE ID number, FIDE rating
and title of each player. There is no limit to the number of participants per federation.

Regulations Overview

The European Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships 2025 will be conducted under the FIDE Laws of Chess, the FIDE General Regulations for Competitions, and the ECU Tournament Rules.

Time Control:

Rapid Chess

11 rounds, Swiss system 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move

Blitz Chess

13 rounds, Swiss system 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment per move

a) The tournament is played according to the FIDE Laws of Chess, FIDE General
Regulations for Competition and ECU Tournament Rules.

b) Default time – The game is lost by the player who arrives at the chessboard after
his flag has fallen (time has run out).

c) The tournaments are played according to A4 and B4 of the Laws of Chess
respectively.

d) The order of players that finish with the same number of points shall be
determined by application of the following tie-breaking procedures in
sequence, proceeding from (a) to (b) to (c) to (d) the extent required:

(a) Buchholz Cut 1

(b) Buchholz

(c) Greater number of games with Black

(d) Greater number of wins

Organization and ECU Entry Fee

Participation is open to all players representing one of the ECU federations (FIDE
Zones 1.1 to 1.10), regardless of title and ranking.

Entry Fees:

€45 for Rapid

(includes €20 ECU fee)

€35 for Blitz

(includes €10 ECU fee)

 Free for: 2024 medal winners,
female players rated 2400+,
players rated 2600+ (if registered before 27 Oct 2025).

Players will be hosted at the official venue, Hotel Emerald in Prishtina.

Transfers

Upon request, the organizer will provide transportation to and from the official
hotel from Prishtina airport, “Adem Jashari”, on November 27 (arrival) and December 01 (departure).

The price for transportation on the days of arrival and departure is €20 for a return
ticket.

Transportation on other days is possible upon personal request.

Visa Information

Players needing visas are requested to contact the Organizing Committee before
27th of October 2025 and apply on time to the respective Kosovo Embassy.

The Organizing Committee will provide invitation and required confirmation of
booking in the official hotel after the necessary payments. The Organizing
Committee has no responsibility for late or not complete applications.

Chess players who hold a Schengen visa do not need an entry visa for Kosovo.
